CPAP Cleaning & Maintenance

Equipment Frequency Cleaning Method Replace
Mask/Interface Daily Wipe with alcohol-free wipes 3-6 months
Weekly Wash with hot, soapy water, rinse and air dry.
Headgear Weekly Wash with hot, soapy water, rinse and air dry. 3-6 months
Humidifier Chamber Daily Empty and refill with distilled water. N/A
Weekly Wash with hot, soapy water, rinse and air dry; or wash in the dishwasher on top shelf.
Tubing Weekly Wash with hot soapy water, rinse and air dry 3 months
Black Filter Weekly Hold under running water, squeeze clean, air dry. 6 months
White Filter   Replace 2 weeks

To disinfect mask, humidifier chamber and tubing, soak in one part white vinegar and three parts water for 30 minutes and rinse.

Home Safety Instructions

  • Make sure to empty out the humidifier chamber prior to traveling with the machine. This will prevent water from entering electrical equipment inside your CPAP machine.
  • Do not use frayed or cracked electrical cords or multi-plug adaptors.
  • A surge protector may be used.
  • Do not overload circuits.
  • Do not immerse electrical equipment in water.

Mask and Supply Reorder

For health and sanitary purposes, insurance companies typically cover new supplies every three months. Normal replacement supplies include mask with headgear, tubing and filters.  Lakeland offers an auto-mail program to automatically send supplies to CPAP users if so desired (free shipping).
